Key Releasable and Fixed Window Restrictors most commonly used in commercial and institutional settings, such as hospitals, schools, nurseries, offices, and hotels.
Key Releasable Window Restrictors allow windows to be partially opened to a safe, pre-set distance—ideal for ventilation—while also offering a keyed override for full access when needed, typically for cleaning or maintenance.
Once installed, fixed restrictors permanently limit how far the sash can open. The only way to fully open the window would be to completely remove the restrictor, making them a strong choice for high-security or fixed-access environments.
We recommend two ranges of Key Releasable and Fixed Window Restrictors to choose from, a surface mounted cable restrictor or a concealed friction arm restrictor.
Before choosing your restrictor we recommend that you research the installation of these restrictors, to ensure that you are capable of installing them yourself. If it's not something you feel comfortable doing please call in a professional.
The surface mounted range are relatively easy to install—just mark your fixing points on the sash and frame, then secure with screws. You can choose your preferred opening distance during installation.
The concealed options are fitted inside the window frame near the hinge, these offer a discreet finish but can be more difficult to retrofit. Ensure there's enough internal space within the sash to accommodate the friction arm.
⚠️ Note: Concealed models may require external access to the sash, which can be impractical for upper-floor windows.
